The armature of the alternator is installed on the stationary element called stator and field twisting on a rotating element. As the bond of a generator is only the opposite of it.

The alternator and generator both works on the principle of Faraday law of electromagnetic induction. The generator induces both the switching and direct current and the alternator produces only changing current. The rotor of the generator is set in the stationary magnetic field. The magnetic field is produced by the magnetic poles. The rotor moves inside the magnetic area, whereas the magnetic field of force that induces the present in the wire.

Every half rotation of Cable affects the management of the current that causes the alternating current. For getting the alternating current, the endings of the circuit is directly connected to the strain. However, for producing the lead current, the ends of the cable is on the commutator.

The alternator takes input supply from the stator where as the generator takes enter supply from the rotor.
